Step 5 - Copying, pasting, nudging and snapping
| |
Back at the Desktop:
Using the select tool, click on the trim at the top left hand corner.
Click on Copy (or use Ctrl+C)
Click on Paste (or use Ctrl+V)
The 'pasted' image will appear on your page. Drag it to somewhere near the
middle. The angle should still be the same as the copied image.
Use the Paste button again, and drag the new trim so that it joins up and
extends the trim in the middle at one end or the other.
There are three utilities that can help you with exact placement:
1.
Nudging
While the trim is selected, use your cursor keys to 'nudge' the image one pixel
at a time.
2.
Outline Movement
Turn the outline movement 'off' so that you can see the image moving rather
than just the outline. You'll find this on the menu bar View | Outline Movement.
3.
Snap to Grid
Turn on the 'Snap to Grid' function. You'll find this on the menu bar
Page | Snap to Grid.
'Paste' again and move the next trim to the other end of the original trim. All
of the trim together should now stretch from the top to bottom of the screen at
a 45° angle.
In this example, the text has also been moved slightly for better effect.
